GMO AI & Robotics to Deploy Dedicated Humanoid Repair Vehicle in Tokyo
GMO AI & Robotics Corp. will introduce a specially equipped ambulance for fixing its humanoid robots in Tokyo later this month.
GMO AI & Robotics Corp. announced that it will launch a dedicated “Humanoid Ambulance” in Tokyo later this month, designed to respond quickly to robot malfunctions. The vehicle carries essential components, repair tools, and an on-board engineer to service the company’s humanoid fleet. President Tomohiro Uchida described the service as the first of its kind in Japan, aimed at facilitating the social implementation of humanoid robots.
In parallel, GMO introduced two new offerings: a data-analysis service that continuously refines robot performance, and a security service that monitors network traffic for unauthorized access. The firm’s parent, GMO Internet Group Inc., and Japan Airlines have been testing robot luggage-handling at Haneda airport, while KDDI Corp. is piloting humanoid customer-service bots at Osaka railway stations. These moves align with Japan’s push to develop domestic AI for security and data protection.
Why it matters
The mobile repair unit aims to keep humanoid robots operational, supporting their expanding role in Japanese logistics and service sectors.
