Goalkeeper Sarah Klau retained in Constellation Cup squad after assault conviction

Australia's netball governing body fined goalkeeper Sarah Klau $5,000 and handed her a two-game ban, suspended for a year, after she pleaded guilty to a common assault charge stemming from an altercation with a security guard in Sydney. Despite the sanction, Klau was included in the 14-player Constellation Cup squad revealed on Tuesday, joining fellow retainers such as Sophie Dwyer, who seeks redemption after a missed shot in the Commonwealth Games semi-final.

Coach Stacey Marinkovich kept the core of the Games team intact, though Jo Weston is absent. New call-ups include Jessie Grenvold, Amy Parmenter and Donnell Wallam, who traveled to Glasgow as reserves. The squad will face the new Commonwealth Games champions in a four-match series beginning on 18 October in Auckland, with subsequent games in Christchurch, Sydney and Melbourne.
