Goods train coach derails at Kathua station, no injuries reported

A goods train coach left the tracks at Chann Aroria station in Kathua district on Wednesday morning, but no one was hurt and there was no damage.

Around 9:30 am, a freight train returning after unloading cement derailed one of its coaches in the yard of Chann Aroria railway station in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said the incident caused no injuries or material loss. A technical team from Kathua worked for about two hours to re-align the coach and restore normal service. The derailment follows a similar incident on July 10 near Lakhanpur, also in Kathua, when landslide debris caused two bogies to come off the rails.

Why it matters

The derailment shows ongoing railway safety challenges in a mountainous region, though no injuries occurred.
