Goody King magnetic building sets recalled after two children required surgery
Around 213,500 Goody King magnetic construction toys are being withdrawn in the United States after two youngsters needed operations to remove swallowed magnets.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has ordered a recall of about 213,500 Goody King magnetic building toys sold in the United States after reports that the cubes can break apart, exposing high-strength magnets. Yi Suen Commerce, the Hong Kong manufacturer, confirmed two pediatric cases required surgical removal of the magnets and noted at least 27 complaints of the cubes opening. The agency warns that swallowed magnets can cause intestinal perforations, twisting, blockages, infection or even death.
Owners of the recalled sets are urged to cease use immediately and request a refund; Goody King will supply prepaid shipping labels and issue refunds once the products are returned, without needing receipts. The toys, marketed on Amazon from early 2024 through mid-2026, were offered in sets of 45 to 300 pieces and priced between $17 and $50.
