Google adds AI-powered study aids and 3D tools to Search and Gemini

Google unveiled a suite of AI-driven educational features for Search and Gemini, including interactive visuals, custom quizzes and 3D simulations.

Google announced a range of new AI-powered educational utilities across its Search engine and Gemini AI assistant. Learners can now produce interactive graphics and simulations by entering simple queries, for example visualizing the pH scale or rotating a 3D DNA structure. The rollout also adds on-demand practice quizzes covering topics from math to foreign languages, and a feature that converts uploaded notes or slides into concise study sheets.

In the coming weeks, Lens in Search will offer real-time help with photographed problems, while Gemini Live will allow multi-step research reports that users can discuss later via voice. All of these functions are gathered in a new Gemini learning hub where users can manage notebooks, flashcards and quizzes. The move positions Google against rivals such as OpenAI and education startups like Knowt and Gauth.

Why it matters

The launch gives students free AI tools for interactive learning, potentially reshaping how education resources are accessed online.
