Google adds seamless password manager migration feature to Android

Google introduced a password-manager switching experience on Android that eliminates the need for CSV exports when changing apps. Users start the new manager, choose to import or copy passwords, and Android detects both the old and new managers to handle the transfer. A preview of the data is presented for confirmation, and the process completes in a few taps.

The feature also moves passkeys, so users avoid re-creating them after migration, and it mitigates the security risk of CSV files. Initially, the capability is available with 1Password, Bitwarden and Dashlane, with more partners planned. It will be accessible on any device running Android 8 or later, including Google’s own password manager.
