Google and Glance add AI-driven shopping to Android TVs in India, US and Japan
Google and Glance have teamed up to embed AI-powered shopping on Android TVs in India, the United States and Japan, converting idle screens into interactive product discovery hubs.
Google and Glance announced a collaboration that embeds AI-based commerce into Android TV platforms across India, the United States and Japan. Users can opt-in to a Glance-driven ambient screen that showcases curated lifestyle products—ranging from clothing to travel options—when the TV is idle, replacing the standard Google Backdrop. The system includes an AI shopping assistant that synchronises product discovery between smartphones and televisions, supported by hundreds of retailer connections and features like high-definition visual simulations and a “Shop the Look” function for direct purchases.
Glance’s CEO Naveen Tewari said the deal moves television beyond a “dormant” screen, leveraging Google’s ecosystem scale. The rollout builds on Glance’s prior partnerships with Airtel and DIRECTV, extending its AI-first commerce model to a broader household base.
