Google expands AI Mode to track flights, book hotels and show points pricing
Google has upgraded its AI Mode to let users monitor airfare, reserve hotels and view travel costs in miles or points.
Google introduced new capabilities for its AI Mode, turning the conversational search tool into a travel-assistant that can track airfare from over 300 carriers and travel sites, notifying users by email of price shifts in over 180 countries. Travelers may specify dates and destinations, receive the best current options, and ask the system to monitor fares. The update also lets users search for hotels, view reviews and key details, and complete reservations through integrated partners such as Booking.com, Expedia and major hotel brands.
After choosing a room, the booking proceeds via a "Continue on Google" link and can be paid with Google Pay, while the partner handles customer service. Additionally, AI Mode can calculate the cost of flights and hotels in loyalty points or miles when prompted. Hotel booking is initially available in the United States in English, with a global rollout planned.
Why it matters
The upgrade lets consumers plan and book travel directly within Google's AI, simplifying price tracking and reservations.
