Google launches offline AI note-taking app for Mac
Google introduced AI Edge Foresight, a Mac application that records meeting notes offline using its on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model.
Google's AI Edge Foresight is a Mac-only meeting note-taker that operates completely offline, leveraging the on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model with 740 million parameters. The tool mirrors popular AI note-takers by providing a dual-pane view for manual shorthand and AI-generated notes, and it can transcribe in-person discussions. It allows users to import various document formats to build a knowledge base that the assistant can reference on the fly.
The app is optimized for Apple Silicon, enabling use while traveling or in low-connectivity environments. While Google’s earlier dictation experiment never reached mainstream, this release showcases the capabilities of its Gemma series and may precede broader consumer offerings. Recent months have seen other firms such as Wispr, Calendly, and Superhuman (which acquired Fathom) launch their own note-taking solutions.
