Google Photos launches AI-driven virtual closet for Android and iOS users

Google Photos has expanded its AI-driven virtual closet to all users in the United States, Brazil and India, supporting both Android and iOS platforms. By scanning users' photos, the tool builds a digital catalog of clothing items, allowing filters by category and the ability to assemble new combinations. Google emphasizes that wardrobe data is kept confidential and not passed to third-party retailers.

The service, first hinted at earlier this year and initially released to Android users in June, now reaches the broader market. It is part of a suite of recent Google Photos enhancements, such as Gemini Spark prompts for selecting and brightening images, an upgraded markup editor, and new AI Remix templates. Additional Android-only features include “Moods” filters that apply retro film looks to pictures.
