Google pledges €13 billion for new Finnish data centres and low‑carbon power deals

Google announced a minimum €13 billion outlay in Finland over the next two years to expand its existing Hamina data centre and build three new sites in Kajaani, Vaala and Muhos. The company signed a 22‑year electricity contract with Fortum to purchase up to half of the output from the Loviisa nuclear plant and said it will explore additional nuclear capacity. A 94‑megawatt battery system is planned near Kajaani and new on‑shore wind agreements will raise total capacity to 629 megawatts. Once operational the four centres are projected to sustain roughly 7,000 direct and indirect jobs.
