Google rolls out premium Fitbit Air tracker in India at steep price
Google introduced the screen-less Fitbit Air in India, pricing it at ₹13,999, far above the $99 U.S. price.
Google launched the screen-less Fitbit Air fitness tracker in India on October 2, pricing it at ₹13,999, which translates to roughly $146, considerably higher than the $99 price in the United States. The band provides continuous heart-rate monitoring, atrial-fibrillation alerts, blood-oxygen measurement, sleep-stage analysis and other health metrics, all without a traditional screen. It will be sold through the Google Store and partners such as Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales, and includes a complimentary three-month Google Health premium subscription.
Market research shows screen-less wearables are carving out a niche despite overall wristband shipments falling, and India accounts for only about 5% of that segment. Competitors like Whoop, Oura, Garmin and Indian startups Noise and Urban offer lower-priced alternatives, raising questions about the Fitbit Air’s market impact at a premium price point.
