Google's Pixel 11 Pro lineup adds AI voice typing but falls short on gaming and battery

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL bring refined cameras, a new AI-driven voice-to-text feature called Rambler, and Qi2 magnetic backs, yet they disappoint with limited gaming performance and modest battery life.

Google’s Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL retain the brand’s premium design and add a scratch-resistant coating, brighter screen and larger base storage, while the camera receives a new 50-megapixel sensor and a 48-MP telephoto lens with improved low-light sensitivity. The standout software addition is Rambler, an AI-powered voice-to-text system that strips out ums, corrects restatements and can translate between English and Malayalam, marking a notable leap over previous Pixel dictation.

Gemini Intelligence offers proactive assistance in Messages, and the phones remain the only major Android models with built-in Qi2 magnetic backs for accessories. On the downside, high-end gaming titles like Genshin Impact display a purple screen, and overall gaming performance is lackluster, prompting Google to work with HoYoverse on a patch. Battery endurance is modest, delivering roughly four hours of screen-on time during intensive use, which may require users to carry a charger. The review concludes that while the Pixel 11 Pro series excels in photography and AI features, it still trails competitors in gaming and battery longevity.

Why it matters

The new AI dictation and camera upgrades set a higher bar for smartphones, but gaming and battery shortcomings may influence buyer decisions.
