Google to relocate all Pixel production from China to Vietnam and India by 2027

Google is set to move the entire manufacturing chain for its Pixel lineup—including phones, smartwatches and earbuds—from China to Vietnam and India, with the transition slated to start in 2027. Suppliers were informed that production will shift out of China next year, a change facilitated by the fact that Pixel devices are not marketed directly to Chinese consumers. Earlier reports indicated that the company had already begun testing production of the upcoming Pixel 11 in Vietnam, prompting an expansion to other Pixel models.

Google also intends to raise its Pixel phone shipments by between 8% and 10% this year after delivering 12 million units last year, a push tied to its Gemini artificial-intelligence services. The relocation follows Samsung's similar move that concluded in 2019, and aims to strengthen Google's bargaining power for memory chips needed across its AI and cloud businesses.
