Google unveils Android-based Googlebooks laptops with tighter phone integration

Google introduced the Googlebooks family, a set of Android-based laptops designed to work as tightly with Android phones as a Mac does with an iPhone. The launch in New York City featured five hardware partners—Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo—each offering at least 16 GB of RAM and, for most, OLED touchscreens with 2.8K resolution. Google highlighted integration features such as instant app continuation, shared file browsing, and a new Magic Cursor that lets users select screen elements for AI analysis via Gemini.

The devices also include a year of the Google AI Pro plan, normally priced at $199. Pre-orders begin today, with deliveries expected on October 4 in the United States and October 5 in several other markets.
