Google unveils Gemini 3.8 Flash, its latest AI model for reasoning and coding

Google rolled out Gemini 3.8 Flash, marking its third Flash model launch in a six-week span and raising doubts about a forthcoming Gemini 3.5 Pro. The offering includes a general-purpose Flash model described as a "workhorse" and a Cyber variant tuned for security-related tasks. API users receive an introductory price of $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens through the end of the year, before shifting to $1.50 and $7.50 respectively.

The pricing strategy appears aimed at staying competitive as rival AI firms lower their token costs. Benchmark results released by Google show the new model marginally outperforms Gemini 3.7 Flash overall, with more noticeable gains in software development evaluations.
