Google unveils Pixel 11 camera upgrades with faster night mode and larger sensors
The Pixel 11 series adds bigger image sensors, Instant Night Sight that cuts exposure time, and new computational tools like Magic Capture.
At its recent launch, Google announced that the Pixel 11 lineup will ship with larger 50MP and 48MP sensors, improving light intake and optical quality compared with the previous generation. The devices introduce Instant Night Sight, a software-driven feature that shortens night-mode exposure to roughly one second, thanks to a redesigned processor and extra TPU capacity. Magic Capture lets users tap once to record video and receive a curated set of high-resolution photos with automatic cropping and de-blurring.
New Camera Looks enable users to craft personalized film-style HDR+ presets while maintaining consistent skin-tone rendering. Video capabilities expand with an 8K Pro Stable Video mode, a Creator tab for editing, a Teleprompter, and enhanced speech processing. Digital zoom is also extended, reaching 120× on the Pixel 11 Pro models and 30× on the standard Pixel 11, promising sharper results at higher magnifications.
Why it matters
The upgrades aim to keep Pixel phones competitive by improving photo quality and adding creative tools, influencing consumer choice in a crowded smartphone market.
