GOP hopeful accuses Democratic rival of illegal cattle dumping in New York race

Republican candidate Anthony Constantino has charged his Democratic opponent Blake Gendebien with illegally discarding dead cattle and debris on his farm, prompting a state police investigation.

Republican contender Anthony Constantino, seeking the seat vacated by Elise Stefanik, accused Democrat Blake Gendebien of illegally dumping tires and dead cattle on land adjacent to a waterway in St. Lawrence County. Constantino displayed drone footage taken by private investigators and referenced a sworn affidavit from a former employee who claimed Gendebien instructed the burial of roughly twenty to thirty cattle and employed an undocumented Mexican worker.

Gendebien’s team countered that the Department of Environmental Conservation visited the farm on Sept. 3 and reported no infractions. The complaint has been forwarded to state police, which confirmed the investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, national Democratic groups have added the North Country district to their “Red to Blue” list, suggesting a potential infusion of campaign funds. The Cook Political Report recently shifted the race rating from “Solid Republican” to “Likely Republican.”
