Government abolishes mandatory 5,000-forint contribution for the Hungarian Trade and Industry Chamber

Prime Minister Magyar Peter confirmed that the government will scrap the yearly 5,000-forint contribution required from members of the Magyar Kereskedelmi és Iparkamara. The announcement did not include specifics on how the new rule will be implemented or when it will take effect. The abolition is expected to ease the financial burden on a large number of enterprises.

At the same time, industry observers note continued demand for a return to the previous KATA tax system, while several reform proposals are being considered to reduce the risk of tax evasion. The chamber has already submitted a technical paper to the Pénzügyminisztérium outlining possible revisions to the small-taxpayer regime.
