Government Blames LFI for School Lockdowns, Party Leader Calls Accusations Conspiratorial

The prime minister’s office said French intelligence sees LFI and its far-left allies behind the high school blockades, while LFI coordinator Manuel Bompard denounced the claim as conspiratorial.

After an inter-ministerial crisis meeting, the Matignon office reported that French intelligence agencies consider the nationwide high-school blockades a coordinated effort by La France Insoumise and its ultra-left proxies. The agencies also warned that the demonstrations have begun to turn into urban violence. In response, LFI coordinator Manuel Bompard accused the government of sinking into conspiratorial thinking and infantilising students.

He argued the movement emerged spontaneously from frustration with what he described as undignified schooling conditions. Bompard called on the prime minister to abandon a strategy of provocation and to address the underlying grievances. The exchange highlights escalating tensions between the government and the left-wing party over the protests.
