Government designates flood- and landslide-hit areas in three districts as disaster zones
A Cabinet decision declared flood- and landslide-affected parts of Gorkha, Dhading and Baglung districts disaster zones, unlocking three months of aid.
In a recent Cabinet meeting, the government designated flood- and landslide-stricken localities in Gorkha, Dhading and Baglung districts as disaster zones for three months. The affected areas include Chumnubri, Dharche and Aarughat rural municipalities in Gorkha; Wards 1 and 2 of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality in Dhading; and Galkot and Dhorpatan municipalities in Baglung. Households whose residences were damaged become eligible for monthly cash assistance of Rs15,000, with an additional Rs2,000 for each family member beyond four.
The aid package also provides temporary housing support, allowing families to stay in private accommodation for up to six months while they secure permanent homes. The measures aim to deliver immediate relief and a bridge to longer-term recovery.
Why it matters
The aid helps thousands of families recover from recent floods and landslides and prevents further hardship.
