Government issues over 200 online takedown orders before Delhi protest demanding CEC resignation

More than 200 takedown orders were sent via the Sahyog portal ahead of a New Delhi rally calling for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to step down.

In the days leading up to an October 10 demonstration in New Delhi, authorities used the Sahyog portal to issue over 200 orders to remove online content. The protest aims to force the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Independent monitoring by SFLC.in recorded more than 60 takedowns and account restrictions on social platforms between October 9 and 11. Delhi Police’s cybercrime unit is overseeing the enforcement of these orders.
