Government launches 2027 renovation drive to boost construction and energy efficiency
The federal government unveiled a 2027 renovation program that allocates new subsidies for thermal upgrades and heating system replacements.
On Sunday, the federal government presented its 2027 renovation offensive, earmarking fresh subsidies for both thermal building upgrades and heating-system swaps. The scheme is designed to invigorate the construction industry, safeguard employment and regional value creation, and help homeowners improve energy efficiency. The allocation for thermal refurbishment has been boosted relative to summer projections, and the heating-system replacement fund, which was exhausted earlier this year, will accept new applications again shortly.
Chancellor Christian Stocker, Environment Minister Norbert Totschnig and Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, all from the ÖVP, promoted the measures as a way to modernise housing stock. In 2026, a combined budget covered both areas but was spent by mid-year, prompting the new funding round.
Why it matters
The plan provides financial support for energy-saving home upgrades, impacting jobs and household costs.
