Government launches daily university visits by Union minister to engage Gen Z

The Modi administration is planning a nationwide scheme in which a Union minister will visit a different university each day to talk directly with students and learn their concerns.

The proposal was examined during a Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under the plan, a Union minister will travel across India, spending each day on a separate campus to engage with Generation Z. Sources familiar with the initiative told PTI that the goal is to capture young people's viewpoints and feed them into policy making. The programme aims to strengthen dialogue between the government and the student community.

Why it matters

Direct contact with students could influence policies that affect India's large youth population.
