Government launches six transport projects under EU CEF2 Reflow programme
The cabinet submitted six transport initiatives to the CEF2 Reflow call, aiming to redeploy unused EU funds for rail upgrades, high-speed lines, digital infrastructure and dual-use airport facilities.
In a filing to the CEF2 Reflow competition, the Hungarian government listed six transport-related projects, as published in the latest Magyar Közlöny. The portfolio covers the preparation of a new delta-type rail line between Balatonszentgyörgy and Gyékényes, preparatory tasks for the Hungarian sections of the Budapest-Vienna/Warsaw high-speed railway, and the DTI4CCAM initiative to build physical and digital infrastructure for autonomous and intelligent vehicles.
Additional items are ultra-fast charging stations for heavy-duty electric trucks along Route 2, the construction of a dual-use military-civilian apron at Budapest Airport, and a joint study on narrow bottlenecks in Central Northern and Southern military corridors. The proposals combine EU grants, national budget allocations and private equity, with the airport study requesting no fiscal funding.
Why it matters
The projects aim to boost Hungary's transport network and leverage unused EU funds for infrastructure modernization.
