Government selects over a hundred territories for accelerated electrification rollout

The French government has finalized a list of 109 territories where the national electrification strategy will be accelerated, covering areas such as Saint-Maur (Val-de-Marne), the Pays Basque community, Corsica and the Terre de Beauce inter-communal group in Eure-et-Loir. The Energy Ministry describes this as the plan's core initiative, targeting the phase-out of gas and oil heating, the shift to electric vehicles and the deployment of new charging points.

By concentrating efforts locally, the programme seeks to hasten France's overall decarbonisation, reduce reliance on foreign energy supplies and ultimately ease household energy bills. No additional financing is earmarked; the rollout will serve as a nationwide laboratory for the approach.
