Government to subsidize half of masters and PhD tuition for civil servants under APEL.Q scheme
The government will pay 50% of tuition for public servants enrolling in master’s or PhD programmes through the APEL.Q scheme.
At a press conference in Bachok, the Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz revealed a new funding programme for civil servants. Under the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Qualification (APEL.Q), the government will shoulder 50% of tuition fees for those undertaking master’s or doctoral studies. The scheme values on-the-job experience, giving veteran employees a pathway to higher qualifications.
It is part of a broader package of incentives that includes the Federal Training Award and various sponsorships designed to enhance the skills and competencies of the public workforce. The announcement was made following an Adjunct Professor Inaugural Lecture at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan.
