Governor-elect Genta Koja reports bomb and death threats targeting his family and offices
Governor-elect Genta Koja said bomb threats were sent to his children's schools and the prefectural office, along with death threats against his family.
Koja announced on his website that threats, including bombs aimed at his kids' schools and the prefectural office, were meant to force him to decline the governorship. He also reported death threats against his relatives. The incidents have been reported to police. Koja, backed by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s Liberal Democratic Party, won the Okinawa gubernatorial election on Sept. 13, defeating incumbent Denny Tamaki.
