Governor Newsom Puts 12,000-Sq-Ft Sacramento Mansion on Market for $7.5 Million

Governor Gavin Newsom and Jennifer Siebel Newsom announced the sale of their Fair Oaks mansion, a 12,000-square-foot estate in a gated Sacramento-area community, with an asking price of $7.5 million, roughly double the 2018 purchase price. The property includes seven bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, a resort-style pool, full-size tennis court, private casita, four fireplaces, a weight room, wet bar and a wine cellar capable of holding 5,000 bottles, as well as a primary bathroom described as a “destination” that opens onto an outdoor wellness oasis with a cold plunge and hot tub.

The home sits on eight acres with landscaped grounds and river-view bluff location. Newsom acquired the house through an LLC tied to his cousin Jeremy Scherer, who worked for the governor’s PlumpJack hospitality group. Tax filings show the couple earned between $1.7 million and $2 million per year from 2022-2024, largely from the governor’s wine ventures, his $200,000 salary and Siebel Newsom’s nonprofit work. Their finances have faced heightened scrutiny after federal probes into the governor’s family and associates, which Newsom has dismissed as a political hit-job, while he is term-limited this year and rumored to consider a 2028 presidential run.
