Grammy winner Chris Brown to be sentenced for 2023 London nightclub bottle attack
Chris Brown will be sentenced after pleading guilty to affray for hitting a music producer with a bottle during a 2023 Mayfair nightclub brawl.
Grammy-award winner Chris Brown, 37, has entered a guilty plea to a count of affray for attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle at the Tape nightclub in London's Mayfair district in February 2023. Court footage captured the assault, leading prosecutors to drop additional charges of assault, attempted grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. Brown's friend and vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu also pleaded guilty to affray and faces sentencing.
After leaving the United Kingdom, Brown was detained at a Manchester hotel in May 2025 and released on bail of Stg5 million, allowing him to continue touring. He was granted bail again on Friday and will appear for sentencing on Monday, with the affray offence carrying a maximum three-year term. The case adds to Brown's long history of legal troubles, including a 2009 felony assault conviction involving Rihanna and various other arrests worldwide.
