Granddaughter in Indore kills 75-year-old grandfather with cricket bat, cites childhood abuse

A 20-year-old woman in Indore travelled to her grandparents’ home early Sunday, struck her 75-year-old grandfather repeatedly with a cricket bat and later told police he had sexually abused her as a child.

On Sunday morning, a 20-year-old college student rode her motorcycle to her grandparents’ residence in Indore, carrying a cricket bat. After her grandmother opened the door, she proceeded directly to her grandfather’s bedroom and battered him on the head and face seven to eight times. The assault prompted the grandmother to raise an alarm, and neighbors rushed in; the 75-year-old man was transported to Aurobindo hospital, where he later died.

In police interrogation, the woman claimed the victim, a retired trooper of the Madhya Pradesh Special Armed Force, had sexually abused her during her childhood. She said her parents had moved out after she reported the abuse, and a heated argument with them about her late-night outing spurred her to seek revenge. The case is now under investigation by local authorities.
