Grandnephew asserts Savarkar never despised Muslims in Pune defamation hearing

A special court in Pune heard testimony from Satyaki Savarkar, who is the grandnephew of Hindutva ideologue V D Savarkar, in a criminal defamation case. He asserted that Savarkar never despised Muslims and that his own writings outlined ways to advance the community, rejecting claims that Savarkar described assaulting a Muslim youth with friends. Satyaki said Rahul Gandhi’s alleged comments painted Savarkar as an extreme anti-Muslim mob lyncher.
Advocate Milind Pawar questioned Satyaki about the specific language used by Gandhi. The proceedings also featured a 2004 interview of Gopal Godse, younger brother of Nathuram Godse, in which Godse confirmed the assassin’s RSS membership.
