Grass fire forces closure of I-84 through Weber Canyon
A grass fire dubbed the Broad Fire burned about 30 acres at the mouth of Weber Canyon, prompting officials to shut down I-84 on Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters from the South Weber Fire Department responded to the Broad Fire, which was estimated at 30 acres near the canyon entrance. Flames spread on both sides of the interstate, leading to a temporary closure of I-84. Trucks were stranded on the road while crews, both aerial and ground, worked to contain the blaze.
