Greece's draft budget for 2027, totaling €5.035 billion in relief, was submitted to Parliament on Oct. 5, outlining wage hikes, pension boosts, tax cuts and housing aid.
On Oct. 5, Greece's parliament received a draft budget for 2027 that earmarks €5.035 billion for a suite of relief initiatives. The package combines €2.208 billion in fresh proposals announced at the Thessaloniki International Fair with €2.827 billion of already-implemented measures. Key components include a rise in the minimum wage, a half-point cut to employee social-security contributions, a €500 gross Christmas bonus for public-sector staff, and a pension increase based on growth and inflation without a personal-difference offset.
A €400 net support payment will be increased and extended to roughly 2.2 million people, while tax exemptions will benefit families with three children, salaried workers, self-employed persons and full-time farmers. The ENFIA property tax will be removed in villages with up to 2,000 residents, and housing programs such as “My Home III” and an EU-funded renovation scheme will receive additional funding.
Why it matters
The budget outlines major fiscal relief that will affect wages, pensions and taxes for millions of Greeks.
