Greek AI Education Platform Earns First IEEE Child-Safety Certification

The IEEE Standards Association granted its inaugural Responsible AI for Children certification to d-AI-logue, an AI-driven learning platform created by Greece’s National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos.

The IEEE Standards Association announced that d-AI-logue, an artificial-intelligence-powered educational platform from Greece’s National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos, received the first Responsible AI for Children (RAIC) certification. The system employs Socratic dialogue, prompting students with guided questions rather than providing direct answers, to foster independent evaluation of information. Certification required the platform to embed privacy safeguards, age-appropriate content limits and protections aligned with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, as assessed by IEEE-accredited reviewers.

IEEE President and CEO Mary Ellen Randall highlighted that such certification offers organizations a market advantage by demonstrating commitment to safe, supportive AI experiences for children. The endorsement is intended to build trust among Greek educators, ministries and parents as d-AI-logue expands into classroom pilots and broader educational programs. Certified entities must continue to prove compliance as their products change, following standards IEEE 2089 and IEEE 7000.

Why it matters

The certification sets a benchmark for safe AI tools in education, encouraging wider adoption of child-friendly technology worldwide.
