Greek ministries allocate funds to aid regions and municipalities hit by natural disasters
The ministries of National Economy and Finance and Climate Crisis and Civil Protection announced funding for local authorities affected by natural disasters.
The Greek government, through the ministries of National Economy and Finance and Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, approved a package of financial assistance for local administrations impacted by natural disasters. The allocation, decided by Deputy Minister Nikos Papathanasis and Deputy Minister Konstantinos Katsafados after a recommendation from the Governmental Committee of State Aid, targets first- and second-tier local government organizations, municipal unions and legal entities of local authorities.
Funds will finance damage-repair works and upgrades to vital infrastructure, with a focus on rapid restoration of core networks and services. The program also seeks to enhance the resilience of local communities to future risks. This initiative is part of the Special Programme for Disaster Response and Recovery under the EPΑ 2026-2030 framework.
