Greek Patriot missile battery's deployment in Saudi Arabia extended by one month
The Greek Patriot air-defence battery stationed in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, will remain for an additional month following a decision by the National Security Council.
The National Security Council approved a one-month extension of the Greek Patriot missile system's presence in Yanbu, where it has been operating since 2021. After this period, the council will reassess the deployment. The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, also covered updates on the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as Greece's UN Security Council agenda.
Why it matters
The extension signals ongoing Greek-Saudi defence cooperation and reflects Greece's strategic priorities in the region.
