Greek utility PPC explores buying Romanian electronics retailer Flanco
Greek electricity group PPC is in talks to acquire Flanco Smart Discounter, aiming to add a retail network to its Romanian operations.
Greek power producer PPC is negotiating the possible acquisition of Flanco Smart Discounter, one of Romania's major electronics retailers. The move is part of a broader strategy to integrate energy generation, supply and retail distribution of electrical goods and green-technology solutions. Flanco operates a network of over 150 physical outlets across 113 Romanian cities and runs the e-commerce site flanco.ro.
By adding this network, PPC hopes to offer products such as photovoltaic systems, storage batteries and high-efficiency appliances directly to households. The discussions remain preliminary, and the transaction has not been finalized. If completed, the acquisition would extend PPC's footprint beyond energy production into consumer-facing retail services.
Why it matters
The deal could reshape how Romanian households obtain both energy and related technology products.
