Greens call for parliamentary probe into halted F126 frigate project
The Greens are demanding a parliamentary investigation into the cancellation of the Navy's F126 frigate programme by Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, alleging billions of euros were wasted.
Green Party budget spokesperson Sebastian Schäfer said a parliamentary inquiry is urgently needed to uncover how the costly F126 frigate project was abandoned. He argued that no investigative tool should be excluded in order to answer taxpayers. The programme, intended to be the Navy's largest warship, was stopped by Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, resulting in a loss of billions. The Greens are now moving to set up a formal investigation committee.
