Greenville officer placed on leave after warrantless entry captured on Ring video
A Greenville, North Carolina police officer was put on administrative leave after a Ring doorbell recording showed officers entering Uniquea Teel's apartment without a warrant and detaining her.
Following a nearby shooting, officers sought footage from Uniquea Teel's Ring camera. When she said the device was dead, an officer threatened to remove it and obtain a search warrant, then entered her home and held her despite her not being a suspect. The officers also seized her phone and forced her to unlock it. The incident, recorded by the doorbell, led to the officer’s administrative leave. Teel said the experience traumatized her and her daughter and eroded trust in law enforcement.
