After being removed from his position heading FEMA’s Office of Response and Recovery in June, Gregg Phillips told followers on Truth Social that he intends to depart the administration soon to reengage in political activism. The White House affirmed that he remains on administrative leave, which includes salary and benefits. On the subsequent day, Phillips shared a picture of himself with former pardon attorney Ed Martin inside a Department of Justice building in Washington, D.C., without any official explanation of his role.
FEMA declined to confirm his employment status beyond the June leave statement. Phillips is known for advancing baseless allegations of voter fraud, including claims made in 2016 and involvement with True the Vote, a group investigated for misleading election-fraud narratives. Despite his controversial background, he continues to receive compensation from the federal government.
