Groundbreaking ceremony held for new LDS temple in Naga, Philippines

Elder Steven D. Shumway presided over the groundbreaking of the Naga Philippines Temple, describing it as a future place of peace and sacredness.

At a ceremony on August 8, Elder Steven D. Shumway, a General Authority Seventy and member of the Philippines Area presidency, broke ground for the Naga Philippines Temple. He said the temple will serve as a sanctuary that separates light from darkness. In his prayer, he asked that the temple’s influence expand divine light and that all who visit embrace the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
