Gurugram driver Kalyan Bainsla faces attempt-to-murder charge after bike collision

After a viral video showed a white Maruti Ciaz chasing and colliding with a motorcyclist on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road, police upgraded the FIR to include an attempt-to-murder charge against driver Kalyan Bainsla. The incident, which occurred early Sunday, involved the biker Sia riding an Aprilia sportbike with a group, and the driver allegedly signaled her to stop before ramming the bike. Initially, sections 125 and 281 of the BNS code were cited for endangering life and rash driving; section 109 for attempt to murder was later added.

Bainsla’s counsel argues the rider was performing a stunt at 140-170 km/h and that the crash was accidental, adding that the occupants fled fearing a mob. Sia’s father disputes this, calling it a deliberate act and urging stricter action. The case highlights concerns over road safety and women’s security.
