Gymnastics coach suspended after alleged assault of child at Brisbane club

A coach at Splitz Gym in Sumner was stood down after a child reported being physically assaulted on September 16, prompting a police investigation.

On September 16, a child alleged physical assault by a gymnastics coach at Splitz Gym in Sumner, south-west Brisbane. The Inala Child Protection and Investigation Unit opened a case, and the club promptly removed the coach from all affiliated programs. Gymnastics Australia and Gymnastics Queensland confirmed they were alerted and that mandatory reporting protocols were activated, involving Sport Integrity Australia and Queensland police.

Parents of club members were notified and urged to provide any additional information to the integrity body. The governing bodies emphasized a zero-tolerance stance toward any behavior endangering children. Queensland police continue to investigate, and no further details will be released at this stage.
