Hacker behind massive Epstein Yahoo email leak testifies remotely at New York conference
A hacker known as Kyrie, who supplied DDoSecrets with thousands of unredacted Epstein Yahoo emails, addressed a panel in New York via encrypted messages.
At the HOPE conference in New York, a panel titled “Leaking and Investigating the Epstein Files” featured Emma Best of DDoSecrets, a reporter at one outlet, and a remote contribution from the hacker Kyrie. Kyrie transmitted encrypted statements that were read to the audience, revealing that he had provided DDoSecrets with 20,900 unredacted Yahoo emails and attachments spanning 2002-2019. He noted that multiple active login sessions indicated other actors were also probing the mailbox after Epstein’s death, a claim later validated when one outlet obtained the same material from a separate source.
Kyrie recounted the decision to hand over the data forced him and his family into hiding, stripping them of normal freedoms. When asked if he would repeat the breach, he said the risks and financial losses outweighed any benefit, despite believing the disclosure served victims. This was the sole public comment Kyrie has made about the hack.
Why it matters
The disclosure shows how private email archives can expose powerful networks and the personal risks faced by whistleblowing hackers.
