Haitian migrant arrested for killing aunt and assaulting cousin in Lee County home
Police say 28-year-old Whycliff Longin of Haiti killed his aunt and tried to strangle his cousin at a duplex in Lee County, Florida.
Authorities in Lee County, Florida, have taken into custody Whycliff Longin, a 28-year-old Haitian migrant charged with killing his aunt, Amadette Longin, and assaulting his cousin. Sheriff Carmine Marceno reported that the cousin woke up to Longin strangling her, escaped his grip, and concealed herself in the bathroom. When police responded, they found Longin in a neighboring duplex and, upon searching the premises, recovered Amadette’s corpse.
The suspect is charged with murder, attempted murder, sexual battery and burglary involving battery. He remains detained in Lee County, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement has filed a detainer against him.
