Halo Foods pulls peanut-containing snack bars from Asda and Sainsbury’s shelves

Halo Foods Ltd is recalling its Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars after a packaging error left peanuts undisclosed on the wrapper, affecting products sold at Asda and Sainsbury’s.

Halo Foods Limited has withdrawn certain batches of its Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars after a mispackaging incident placed the bars inside wrappers meant for Peanut-free Skinny Whip Toffee, omitting the required allergen information. The affected items are five-packs of 20-gram bars bearing batch code 6238 and a best-before date of August 2027, distributed to selected Asda locations in England and Scotland as well as Sainsbury’s stores in England.

The Food Standards Agency released an allergy alert, urging anyone with a peanut allergy not to consume the product and to seek medical advice if they have already eaten it. Retail outlets have displayed recall notices and are offering full refunds to customers who return the bars. Halo Foods confirmed that no other Skinny products are impacted by this issue, and allergy-support groups have been informed to help spread the warning.

Why it matters

Undeclared peanuts pose a serious health risk to allergic consumers, prompting a recall to prevent potential reactions.
