Hamas official says Israeli moves threaten full domination of Al-Aqsa

Khaled Meshaal, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, warned that recent Israeli measures are setting the stage for complete control over Al-Aqsa Mosque. He pointed to a reported 40-day closure, a temporal division intended to facilitate incursions by extremist Jewish groups, and the clearing of key courtyard facilities as evidence of a spatial split. Describing the shrine as standing at a crossroads, Meshaal called for a “strategy of resistance and jihad” and appealed to Arab and Muslim-majority countries to back Palestine.
He also urged Palestinians to keep a steadfast presence at the holy site. In parallel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu inspected tunnels beneath Al-Aqsa, while hundreds of Israeli settlers entered the compound under heavy police protection.
