Hamburg teen arrested for allegedly coercing US girl into suicide via online group

An 18-year-old from Hamburg has been detained on murder and aggravated bodily injury charges after allegedly pressuring a 14-year-old girl in Indiana to self-harm, which led to her death.

Hamburg prosecutors have placed an 18-year-old male in pre-trial detention on suspicion of murder and dangerous bodily injury after he is accused of manipulating a 14-year-old girl in Indiana via Discord to inflict severe self-cuts and inscribe his pseudonym “Kaz” and the group name “NMK” in blood on walls. The teenager later committed suicide, and the suspect is reported to have attempted to obtain video footage of the self-harm, threatening to expose the recordings if denied.

Investigators allege his motive was to gain access to or portray himself as a member of the “Nefarious Maniac Kult” (NMK), a network modeled after the “Com-Netzwerk” that includes the “764” faction known from the “White Tiger” case. The investigation was triggered by a notice from the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which also links to a separate Hamburg trial of a German-Iranian accused of similar online grooming. In Switzerland, police are probing 20 related cases, with authorities in Zurich, Lucerne and Basel-Landschaft confirming ties to the “764” network, underscoring the transnational nature of these extremist online circles.
