Hamilton man arrested for fatal Mississauga hit-and-run involving senior pedestrian
Police arrested 69-year-old Aubrey Lawrence of Hamilton after a pedestrian in his 60s was killed in a hit-and-run on Sept. 29 in Mississauga.
A fatal hit-and-run occurred on Sept. 29 at the Winston Churchill Boulevard and Dundas Street West intersection in Mississauga, where a pedestrian in his 60s was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. Peel Regional Police determined the suspect vehicle was a Chevrolet Silverado from the 1999-2005 model years. The investigation led to the arrest of Hamilton resident Aubrey Lawrence, 69, who has been charged with failing to remain at an accident resulting in death.
Const. Tyler Bell-Morena reported that after the collision, a bystander and other motorists pursued the driver, flagging him down in a nearby parking lot for an interaction. Police hope to interview that motorist, who may have witnessed critical details. The case remains under investigation, and authorities have asked the public for any additional information.
